Two Henry Rifles, First and Second Model in Upcoming Firearms Auction
Cowan's Historic Firearms and Early Militaria Auction, April 28, 2010 is set to be a great sale! The auction features 1,000 + lots with items ranging from the Civil War up to WWII.
One great piece is this First Model Henry Rifle. The firearm has a .44 rimfire caliber, a 24" octagonal barrel and a serial number of "1327." Missing front and rear barrel sight, the early variation with frame was dovetailed for sight. It features the original "perch belly" walnut buttstock and an early brass buttplate. All the numbers match to the rifle as well as three of the tang screws and buttplate screws. One of the tang screws is a replacement and there is no cleaning rod.

Another nice firearm is similar, a Henry Rifle, Second Model. It is .44 caliber with a 23.5" barrel and the serial number is "6319." It has a brass frame, correct pointed original buttplate and original buttstock with a name carved into the left side, although it is very dim. It has the original 900 yard rear sight and the barrel markings are good and untouched.
