Contents of Alberly Manor to go on the block at Cowan's on
July 7, 2011
CINCINNATI – Cowan's Auctions Inc. will be offering the property of Isabelle
Paul, of Indian Hill, Ohio, on July 7, 2011 during a live auction at Cowan's
salesroom. This sale includes items from the 14,000 square foot estate of
Isabelle Paul, a prominent Indian Hill residence with collections that span a
50 year period. Included in the contents of this mansion are fine collections
of French furniture, porcelain, paintings, bronzes, and silver. Owner and
principal auctioneer of Cowan's, Wes Cowan, notes "We are delighted to sell the
contents of one of Indian Hill's most historic homes, Alberly Manor".
A Pair of Monumental Sevres Urns Made for King Louis Phillipe are estimated to bring anywhere between $8,000/12,000. Made for Louis Phillippe, these urns
stand 23'' high on four scrolled feet with bronze figural mounts, each with a
different hand-painted allegorical scene representing the birth of Venus.
A Louis XV Settee and Arm Chairs are estimated at $4,000/6,000. The settee and arm chairs are wrapped in Aubusson tapestry upholstery and carved with a gilded finish.
A Pair of Two Pastel Portraits After Jean-Marc Nattier are estimated to sell
anywhere from $3,000/5,000. Each is titled and signed on the reverse "Jophie de
France Fille de Louis XV, Nattier" and "Lamse de France Fille de Louis XV,
Nattier".
An Imaciel Sterling 6-Piece Tea Set is expected to sell for $5,000/7,000. This
set includes a tray, hot water kettle and stand, tea and coffee pot, and cream
and sugar pot.
