both of the same two mountain men, taken minutes apart, each with backmark of H.E. Moore, Berlin, Ontario. One wears a fur hat and holds a Plains-style rifle with brass patch box and wears fox pelts at his belt; the second with buckskin pants and jacket and very unusual feathered head gear. The gentleman on the right stares at an unidentified object in his hand; in the second image his partner laughs and points. One with period pencil identification A.J. Peterson. This is likely the brother of C.J. Peterson who was one of several generations from Canada, who lived in Cherokee Co., Kansas in 1869. These lots were purchased from the grandson of C.J. Peterson in Columbus, KS.
Condition: Both with slight toning, else VG.
