English and Scottish, first half 19th century. Includes tongs struck for Glasgow 1828, marked A.S for A. Sterling; together with tongs struck for London, 1848, marked JW, probably James Wintle; AND tongs struck for London, 1890, marked J.A. over T.S. into a quatrefoil for John Aldwinckle and Thomas Slater. All are about 6" long and monogrammed; 5.286 ozt. (164.43 g) total weight.
