Rain-in-the-Face, executed in 1991 by David McGary (American, b. 1958). Signed at the base, with McGary's thumbprint, a monogram, and edition number- 5/7
The bronze figure stands an impressive, larger than life 6' 9" tall from feet to wolf skin cap, 90 inches high with both granite and bronze base, 83 inches high with bronze base, and measures 36 inches wide by 30 inches deep. The bronze is meticulously cold painted, even to the minute moccasin patterns.
Rain-in-the-face was one of McGary's earlier and finest forays in larger-than-life bronze work, a method by which the artist made a name for himself. His life size commissions can be found at numerous institutions, but rarely surface at auction.
