Pristine view of an armed African American NCO ink signed beneath portrait, “Yours Obt. Servt,/Jacob Johns.” Sergeant Johns wears an oversized sack coat with outside slash pocket, his sleeves displaying usual hash marks above the elbow in lieu of chevrons. An unidentified (corps?) badge is pinned to the breast of the coat with rectangular belt plate rig, sash and M1840 NCO sword visible. Johns enlisted on January 3, 1864 and mustered out with the regiment on January 15, 1867.
Condition: CDV is VG having soft corners and minor foxing.
