The structure of this mask is one of Mayeri's most distinctive ways of deconstructing the human form. The piece is cut and reassembled on a flat base creating an intriguing optical effect. As the artist comments, "Many of my pieces are psychological portraits that explore what one feels rather than what one sees."
Mayeri is a studio artist living in the Bay Area. She earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MA in sculpture at San Francisco State University.
