**1917 Production Colt Model 1911 Pistol

.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 198622. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with two-tone lanyard ringed 7-shot magazine, exposed hammer, short grip safety, and fixed u-notch and half moon sights. Blued metal finish and checkered double diamond walnut grips. Features checkering to long spur hammer, stepped thumb safety, slide lock, and magazine release. Markings include standard two-line manufacturer patent dates and Hartford address to left of slide, followed by a rampant Colt mark to rear of slide. On left side of frame there is "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and Major Gilbert H. Stewart (GHS in circle) proof marks. Right side of item shows the model name stamped to right of slide, and serial number is marked to right side of frame above trigger guard cutaway. Barrel of this item is marked with (HP) and rear of slide has an (H) stamp near hammer. This model 1911 was manufactured sometime toward the end of 1917. 

Condition:

Very good. Bore is bright with some evidence of pitting/oxidation near breech, rifling is sharp. Metal finish has mostly turned to a light brown/green patina adding a unique look to this item. Finish is also showing some small losses toward muzzle and on grip straps. Wood grips are in good condition, with some scratches to left side grip.
