**1942 dot Code German G33/40 Mountain Rifle

8mm Mauser, 20" barrel, S/N 886d. Blued finish, bright bolt, laminated stock. Top of chamber marked {Eagle}/63 over dot over 1942. Side of chamber marked with Waffenamt and serial number, receiver marked G33/40. Matching numbers on receiver, bolt and inside hand guard, no other parts appear to be numbered. Retains elevating leaf rear sight, sling swivel on barrel band, cleaning rod and an original leather sling. No visible marks in wood on exterior. The G33/44 was produced by BRNO in Czechoslovakia as a German military modified version of the Czech VZ33 carbine for use by the "Alpine" or "Mountain" troops. A relatively scarce WWII German rifle in a fairly nice state of preservation.

Condition:

Very good. Retains some strong traces of blue on the barrel with a mostly smoky gray patina. Clear markings in the metal, none present in the wood. Mechanically functional, good bore with strong rifling and moderate oxidation with some darkness and minor roughness. Stock with scattered bumps, dings and mars.
