.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 70372. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with exposed spur hammer, fixed notch and half moon sights, and grip safety. Item has a blued finish with checkered double diamond walnut grips. To left side of slide are standard manufacturer two-line patent dates and address marks, with a rampant Colt mark to the rear of slide. On left of frame are "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and Major Walter G. Penfield (WGP in circle) marks. Marked to right of slide is the model name, with serial number marked to right of frame. Although it has been reblued, item has original WWI-HP marked barrel, stepped thumb safety, and long trigger. However it also has a shortened M1911A1-style hammer. This specimen was manufactured sometime in 1914 according to serial number identification. Item DOES NOT include removable 7-shot magazine.
Excellent. Item has been refinished and grips do not appear to be original. Bore is frosty. There are light scratches overall with some pit marks to front strap.
