.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 225902. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with two-tone removable 7-shot magazine, military lanyard ring, exposed spur hammer, short grip safety, and fixed u-notch and half moon sights. Blued military finish with checkered double diamond walnut grips. Features checkering to long spur hammer, stepped thumb safety, slide lock, and magazine release. Markings include standard two-line patent dates and Hartford address followed by a rampant Colt stamped to rear. To left of frame is "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", and a Major. Gilbert H. Stewart (GHS in circle) mark behind trigger guard cutaway. To right side you will find the model name marked to slide, and serial number marked to frame. Barrel is marked with separate (HP) marks, and there is an (H) mark on rear of slide near hammer. This specimen was manufactured sometime during the first quarter of 1918 according to serial number identification.
Condition:
Very good. Bore is immaculate and rifling is sharp. Item retains most of finish overall, with some losses toward muzzle, on raised surface edges, and front grip strap. Plum patina to grip straps. Wood grips are in excellent condition.
