.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 360728. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with two-tone removable 7-shot magazine, short grip safety, military lanyard ring, exposed spur hammer, and fixed u-notch and half moon sights. Blued black metal finish with checkered double diamond walnut grips. Features checkering to hammer, graduated thumb safety, magazine release, and slide lock. Markings include standard two-line manufacturer patent dates and Hartford address surrounding the rampant Colt to left of slide. Left side of frame features "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and (Eagle Head/S14) Springfield proof marks. Right side of slide shows model name, and serial number is marked to right of frame. Barrel is marked with (HP) proof mark and there is an (H) proof to rear of slide near hammer. This specimen was manufactured sometime during 1918.
Condition:
Very good. Bore is fine, lightly frosted and retains shear rifling. Gun retains much of the original finish with the expected thinning, wear and loss for a 100-year old military pistol. Wood grips are crisp later replacements. A solid example of a WWI-era Colt 1911.
