**Colt 1911

.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 91003. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with two-tone lanyard ring bottomed magazine, exposed hammer, short grip safety, and fixed u-notch and half moon sights. Blued metal finish with checkered double diamond walnut grips. Features checkering to long spur hammer, stepped thumb safety, slide lock, and magazine release. Markings include standard two-line manufacturer patent dates and Hartford address, followed by a rampant Colt stamp to rear of slide. Left side of frame shows "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and Major Walter G. Penfield (WGP in circle) proof marks. Right side of slide is marked with model name, and serial number is marked to frame above trigger guard cutaway. Barrel has (HP) marks and there is also an (H) marked to rear of slide near hammer. This specimen was manufactured sometime in 1914.

Very good. Bore is bright and rifling is sharp. There are some minor losses to finish near muzzle and to underside of frame in front of the trigger guard. Abrasion to left of rear sight with some light scratches to slide overall. There is a patina developing on grip straps, and some evidence of pitting left side behind trigger cutaway and below thumb safety. Left wood grip shows some worn down areas and a bite to bottom left corner, and right side has some dulling and bites toward bottom of grip. Overall a fine example of a pre-war Colt 1911.
