**Colt 1911A1 "Black Army" Rework
.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 462668. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with removable 7-shot magazine, grip safety, and exposed spur hammer. Parkerized metal finish with checkered walnut grips. Features a Bo-Mar adjustable rear notched sight and a fixed ramp front sight. There is checkering to the front strap, arched mainspring housing, hammer, magazine release, and slide lock. Item also features a Match model adjustable trigger. Left side of slide is stamped "GOVERNMENT/MODEL COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBER .45" followed by a rampant Colt mark. Left side of frame has several marks including "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", an (AA) Augusta Arsenal proof, an (Eagle Head/S12) Springfield proof, (58) mark to triggerguard, and a (P) proof marked below magazine release. Right side of slide features obfuscated Colt manufacturer address and patent dates. Right side of frame has serial number marking, and an unidentified (T) mark behind trigger cutaway. Manufactured originally in 1918, this pistol features heart shaped cutaways typical with "Black Army" era 1911's. It also has arsenal reworks such as the arched mainspring housing, extended grip safety spur, shortened hammer, and graduated slide lock.
Condition:
Very good. Bore is frosty and has some residue. Finish is in excellent condition, may have been refinished at some point after the arsenal rework as most of original manufacturer and military marks appear buffed over or obfuscated. Heavy scratches under finish to right side of slide.
