**Colt 1911A1 British Lend-Lease
.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 2283889. Single-action semi-automatic pistol with removable 7-shot magazine, exposed hammer, arched mainspring housing, military lanyard ring, and fixed u-notch and ramp sights. Parkerized metal finish overall with checkered brown plastic grips. Features checkering to short spur hammer, short trigger, graduated thumb safety, and magazine release with grooving to slide lock and arched mainspring housing. This pistol appears to be a British Lend-Lease model 1911A1. Markings include three British Birmingham Proof House marks to barrel/"NOTENGLISHMAKE", and there is a Birmingham proof to right of slide near breech. To right side of frame are standard model name, Ordnance Department (Crossed cannons in circle), and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marks. There are also British markings such as "NOTENGLISHMAKE", and "RELEASED BRITISH GOVT 1952" is stamped behind trigger guard cutaway and above triggerguard. Left side of slide has standard two-line manufacturer patent dates and Hartford address surrounding a rampant Colt stamp. Left side of frame shows Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry (G.H.D.) and (P) proof marks. According to serial number dating, this specimen was manufactured sometime in 1945.
Condition:
Very good. Bore is immaculate and rifling is sharp. There are some small losses to finish near muzzle and a few light scratches to slide. Plastic grips are in good condition. Overall in great condition with very few defects.
