.38 S&W. 2" barrel length. SN: 310897. Double-action 6-shot revolver with fluted swing-out cylinder, exposed spur hammer, fixed notch and blade sights. Blued metal finish, silver plate hammer, and checkered square-butt walnut grips with rampant Colt medallions to both. Features checkered cartridge extractor rod, hammer, and cylinder release, with a plain trigger and serrated top strap. .38 Bankers/Special is marked to left of barrel, rampant Colt marked to left of frame, and serial numbers marked to cylinder yoke. Manufactured from 1926-1940, this item is an early model and features the square-butt design used before Colt switched to a rounded-butt style after 1933. A revolver issued to railway postal workers, bank employees, and prison guards of the time period.
Condition:
Very good. Item appears to have been refinished. Lettering to barrel loses sharpness toward bottom, rampant Colt mark appears dulled, and there some faint but visible pit marks under finish. Bore is bright, rifling is sharp, and cartridge chambers are clean. Wood grips appear to be original and are in great condition. There is a faint drag line to cylinder, but lock up is tight and action is functional.
