Colt Model 1895 Civilian New Navy

.41 caliber. 6" barrel length. SN: 17041. Double-action 6-shot revolver. This item has a nickel plate finish to frame, barrel, cylinder, and hammer. The grips on this Colt are checkered hard rubber and feature COLT encircled in an oval to both grips, indicating that this is a Civilian New Navy model and not a Civilian New Army model. Manufacturer and model names are marked to the top and left side of barrel. This model has an assembly number marked on the cylinder latch and inside of yoke, and a serial number marked on butt of grip. There is a rampant Colt stamp above the left side grip on frame, but no U.S. Navy proof marks. This indicates that it was a civilian model and was not used by the military.

Provenance:From the Collection of Charlie Hinton

Condition:

Fair. Bore is frosty and has some light pitting. Finish shows heavy wear overall. There is oxidation to cartridge chambers of cylinder. The left corner of the right side grip has been broken off. Cylinder has some wiggle room.
