**Colt New Service Army Model 1909
.45 ACP. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 45720. Double-action 6-shot fluted swing-out cylinder revolver with sharkfin front sight, exposed spur hammer, and military lanyard ring to butt of grip strap. Brilliant blued finish to metal overall, with silver plated hammer and plain walnut grips. Features checkered hammer, cartridge extractor rod, and a smooth trigger. To top and left of barrel are standard manufacturer name, address patent date, and caliber size marks. There is also a rampant Colt mark to left of frame near grip, and UNITED STATES PROPERTY stamped to bottom of barrel. Rinaldo A. Carr's (R.A.C.) proof mark can be seen under barrel, to right of frame, and to the bottom of both grips. There is also a Major Walter G. Penfield (WGP in circle) proof to right side of frame. Serial numbers are stamped to yoke, cylinder crane, and to bottom of grip strap, as well as U.S. ARMY MODEL 1909 to butt of grip strap. Underneath of both wood grips is the serial number 45720 written in pencil, with period penmanship. This model was most likely manufactured in 1911 according to serial number identification.
Condition:
Very good. Bores are bright and rifling is sharp. Finish has some light scratches to barrel, with some loss to end of muzzle likely from holstering. Wood grips are in great condition with five bites to the left side grip, and a few minor scratches to right side grip.
