**Colt New Service Army Model 1917

.45 ACP. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 235827. Double-action 6-shot revolver with fluted swing out cylinder, exposed spur hammer, and military-style lanyard ring to butt. Blued military finish, silver finish hammer, with plain walnut grips. Features sharkfin front sight, checkered hammer, cartridge extractor rod, and smooth trigger. To top and left of barrel are standard manufacturer address, patent date marks, and caliber size. There is also a rampant Colt mark to left of frame near grip, and UNITED STATES PROPERTY stamped to bottom of barrel. Army service number No. 79542 and U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917 are both stamped to butt of grip strap. Serial number is stamped to yoke and serial number 187612 marked to cylinder crane. There is also a Springfield (Eagle/S19) proof to left of frame in top corner, and an (S, civilian sales) proof mark to right side of frame. This item was manufactured sometime in 1919 for WWI service. 

Condition:

Very good. Bore is bright and rifling is sharp. Cylinder chambers are in good condition but have some residue. Finish shows losses in typical grip positions, muzzle, and scatted spots overall. Left side of frame has heavy pit marks. Grips have a few bites to each side but are in good condition otherwise.
