Carr) inspection at upper left rear of frame above grip with "OCH" (Odus C Horney) inspection at upper right rear of frame. These revolvers are found in the 43,401 to 48,097 serial number range, so this is one of the earliest revolvers in this series. This revolver is featured on pages 396 to 398 of the book "Colt's Double Action Revolver Model of 1878" by Don Wilkerson. A copy of the book is included in sale.

Condition:

Very Good. Retains much of the blued finish, with moderate amounts of flaked loss and further loss from wear and carry. Exposed areas have a dull smoky-gray patina which makes the gun appear to retain more finish than it actually does when viewed under normal lighting conditions, but under strong lighting looks more mottled. All markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional, crisp action with good timing, indexing and lock up. Very good bore with crisp rifling, is mostly bright with some lightly scattered pitting and some scattered oxidation. Grips very good with crisp checkering, some fading towards chocolate brown and showing some light handling marks.
