.36 caliber. 7.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 10964 (mfg. ca1852). Blued and color casehardened finish, silver plated small brass triggerguard and silver plated backstrap, varnished one-piece walnut grip. One-line New York barrel address with long dashes at either end, cylinder with naval battle scene and legible "Ormsby" signature beneath serial number, with safety pins on rear face. Matching serial numbers throughout, including wedge and grip.
Very good. Retains no blue with some traces of case color on the loading lever. Metal cleaned to bright with scattered surface oxidation and discoloration and some patches of minor surface roughness. Markings remain legible, matching numbers, retains most of the cylinder scene with visible Ormsby signature. All safety pins present. Mechanically functional, but does not hold at half-cock. Very good bore with strong rifling, and scattered oxidation. Grips near fine, with most of their varnish and some scattered bumps and dings.
