Heavy Barreled Percussion Target Rifle with Telescopic Sight

.48 caliber, 30.75" heavy, single wedge retained octagonal barrel turned round at the muzzle for a bullet starter, no S/N. Blued finish, German silver furniture, smooth walnut stock with pewter forend cap. Back action lock with simple foliate engraving marked Henry Parker / Warranted. Double set triggers, German silver patchbox and mounts. Mounted with a 33.5" long, unmarked 19th century Malcolm-style scope in solid screw tension rings that are designed for dovetail mounts. Dovetail cuts in the top barrel flat are not the correct size for the mounts. Includes a brass tipped wood ramrod. It is believed that Henry Parker was only a lock maker, as his locks have been noted in guns by other known makers. The style of the rifle is typical of the heavy barreled target rifles produced in America during the 1840s-1860s.

Good. Retains no finish with a lightly oxidized dull pewter patina on the barrel, lock with a smoky blue gray appearance. Mechanically functional lock, hammer appears to be an old replacement. Very good bore with strong rifling and moderate oxidation. Stock with scattered bumps, dings and mars. Scope rings do not fit the rifle and the scope is secured by wire ties. Scope good but needs to be cleaned.
