This item has an Ithaca manufactured U.S. government issued frame. It is fitted with what appears to be a National Match reworked slide, barrel, and U.S. marked Elliason adjustable rear sight. Has grooved National Match extended trigger stamped 8 to right side. Checkered frontstrap, grooved arch mainspring housing, and smooth grip safety. Marked United States Property No. 1249037 RIA M1911 A1 U.S. Army on right side of frame, and stamped NM on right side of trigger guard. Marked on the left side of the frame are Col. Frank J. Atwood proof marks, as well as an Ithaca Cross proof mark on left side of trigger guard. Slide is marked COLT'S PA. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CONN, U.S.A. to right of slide, and NM7791435 to the left side of slide. Item is also marked 7267718/NM on barrel bushing, and top of barrel is marked 45 AUTO NM7791414 9037. Left grip is stamped Made in Italy to underside. Attached magazine has 9037 etched on left side. There appears to be two crossed cannon proof marks stamped behind right side grip. Also included are two extra 7-shot .45 ACP magazines. This model 1911A1 was originally produced by Ithaca in 1943, and we believe it was later reworked by government armorers into a model 1911A1 National Match pistol.
