Standard Frank Wesson patent markings and Kittredge retailer markings on the barrel, partially obscured by the rear sight dovetail. Includes incorrect period replaced ladder rear sight, incorrect threaded lower swivel and upper swivel on stud under barrel. Roughly 4,500 of these military pattern Wesson rifles were produced with Kittredge & Co of Cincinnati selling many of them to the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas and Ohio for use during the Civil War.
Good. Retains no finish with the barrel heavily oxidized to brown and showing scattered light to moderate pitting. Frame with a mottled brown and gray patina and shows some pitting as well. Barrel markings partially obscured by the rear sight dovetail cut. Mechanically functional, good bore with decent rifling and moderate pitting. Stock with moderate wear, showing scattered bumps, dings and mars.
