Springfield Model 1890 Trapdoor Carbine

.45-70, 22" barrel, S/N 411743 (mfg. ca1888). Blued finish, color case hardened breech block, smooth straight-gripped walnut stock. Breech block marked US / MODEL / 1884, lock marked with {Spread-Winged Eagle} and US / SPRINGFIELD. Barrel with V / P / {Eagle Head} / P proofs. Low arch breech, two-piece triggerguard, grooved trigger with checkered tip, 3-click tumbler, trapdoor buttplate without 3-piece cleaning rod or headless case extractor inside. 1884 pattern "C" marked Buffington carbine rear sight with sight protecting barrel band, pinned front sight blade, sling bar and ring.
