.45-70 Gov't caliber. 22" barrel length. SN: 381426. Single-shot hinged breechblock-action rifle with single barrel band, saddle bar, saddle ring, serrated trigger, and adjustable Buffington and fixed blade sights. Blued metal finish and a plain straight grip walnut stock. Markings include a crested American Eagle stamp, followed by "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1873" to lockplate. "Trapdoor" breech cover appears to be from a Model 1884, and is marked "U.S./MODEL/1884". Serial number is marked to rear. Various letters standard in manufacturing are marked to barrel bands and other small parts. There appears to be a round-boxed "P" cartouche to underside of butt.

Good to very good. Bore is frosty and has moderate oxidation to rifling. Most of finish has turned to a dark grey-brown patina and has pitting overall. Wood stock is in good condition, with some losses to right side of butt, and minor scratches and bites overall.
