**U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag

.30 caliber. 19" barrel length. SN: 402602. Bolt-action rifle with 5-shot internal rotary magazine, straight bolt, J.C. Higgins rubber buttpad, and adjustable Lyman u-notch and fixed brass bead blade sights. Blued metal finish and plain straight grip walnut stock with forearm cutaway. Includes a leather sling. Item does not have forend barrel band or wood hand guard. Item also appears to exist outside of known M1898 Krag carbine serial number ranges. Does not have any military cartouches or distinctive markings besides standard U.S. Model 1898 manufacturer markings to receiver. Most likely a mid-century sporterized M1898.

Provenance:From the Collection of Charlie Hinton

Fair to good. Bore is dark and shows heavy oxidation to rifling. Finish has small scattered spots of oxidation overall. Wood stock has dings, bites, and scratches overall. Wood stock is also very loose and has become detached from barrel. Rotary magazine does not feel tight and has a suspicious amount of "play" or looseness when opening and closing magazine.
